Inktober 10 25 16 Grettir's Lift

Inktober day 25! Hoping to throw together a blog post real quick on Grettis saga since I'm way over due for a blog post and way too busy... but Grettla is one of my faves, and one I've taught since starting grad school (so over a decade now), so hopefully I'll be able to put something short and sweet together and then get back to preparing for the conference I am speaking at this weekend...

Note that (after watching lots of Dragon Ball episodes lately--guilty pleasure) this is a very cartoony rendition--the rocks Grettir supposedly lifted don't actually look like cartoon rocks (in fact, none will be bumpy on top and flat on the bottom like that, though I suppose if your geology professor ever tells you otherwise you should listen to her).
